User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Great Concept, Bad implementation
Just like all the other reviewers, had a lot of expectation from these headphones. All went well and I really liked it till… I went to the gym. The headphones circuitry was shortcircuiting with sweat. The buttons are very timid and would short constantly increasing or decreasing the volume or skip to the next song. The first time I was able to shut it off let it dry and revive it. However, the second time this happened, it died. I talked to motorola about the problem, but they could not tell me anything more than that the product was supposed to be sweatproof( which is why anyone would buy an” active” headphones. They could not tell me that the problem has been rectified in the newer designs. Anyway have sent it out to them and am expecting a replacement. Fingers crossed…

5 Stars Love it!!
I purchased this item because my boyfriend has one and loved it. I have used it several times and love it too!! I use it with my IPod at the gym and it’s great not to have wires. Same with the train. I recently went on a trip to NYC and took these with me. They were very comfortable…I even fell asleep with them on! The sound is very good as well. I would reccomend these to all of my friends!

4 Stars Great under the helmet
I wear these under my motorcycle hemet (half helmet) and they work great. They get a little uncomforatable under the helmet, but nothing that’s painful or distracting while you ride. I can hear the music loud and clear over my Harley’s pipes.

4 Stars Excellent if a bit unweildy
A very nice product, I had no problem synching with my ipod (although at times there can be a delay, if this is the case I find turning both the headphones off and unplugging the D650 then turning the headphones on FIRST before pressing play on the ipod solves the problem).

To my surprise I can play music through my headphones from my ipod whilst also having synched my phone (nokia 6300) to the S9 so when a call comes through the music stops and I hear a ringing tone which using the excellent buttons I can answer and hang up without ever touching either my phone or ipod.

The headphones themselves are lovely and light but do have a tendancy to slide backwards, pulled by the weight of the battery pack. The ‘in-ear’ buds are also a bit of a joke, they don’t sit snugly in ear and as a result allow alot of background noise in (I suppose if you’re in a car or out running this might not be a bad thing), the S9 redeems itself well however by having volume controls and quite a high maximum volume, so I tend to just drown out the noise!

1 Star Anticipation gives way to disappointment
My fault is that I am a loyal Motorola fan. A little less so after a year with this flop. To Motorola: Thank you so much for going out on a limb and trying to produce this technologically advanced product. This is exactly what I was looking for. I can’t what until you come out with a very refined second edition.

To potential consumers: Beware. I won’t repeat all of the other problems unvailed in the other reviews but I assure you I could echo the other complaints. New complaints: They came with a white bluetooth adapter that really clashes with my black 30 GB. I wish they would have cared enough to ask me what I wanted. Second, Every time I wear them I get a headache. The back of the S9 is so heavy the back of the headphone slips down and rides on my neck. This could be my fault as my ears seem to be low on my head and the S9 doesn’t get to rest on my ears. Third, My headphones controls stopped working with less than an hours use on them. I had to send them in and get them replaced. Fourth, Although made for fitness they are not very workout friendly. Comfort, sound quality, and control are compromised under workout conditions.

Please beware of the downfalls of these. If still interested, go to Best Buy and try them on before purchasing. Thank you Motorola for trying to produce such an awesome product. Please don’t be afraid to revise the design of the S9. I am eagerly awaiting a new edition of S9 that performs as needed for workout conditions
